A lesson in life, this closed down about 30 years ago, the value of this place was incredible until most of the non renewable resources were taken out.  Now it if left for.....?  No value, at least not to the people who once mined it.  

Makes me ponder life.  Just how in 30 years of neglect this place looks so worthless. 

If we don't take care of ourselves, our bodies, we neglect to care for ourselves how do we "Look" after 30 years?  Hmmmm.....

Anyway, just thinking.....  any thoughts?

Griffith Mine

This weekend we went with our little troop out to an old mine to go camping.
We had heard about it, but had never checked it out. What a neat place to explore.
This town is all about Gold mines, but this mine was apparently an Iron Ore Mine.
I'd like to do a little reseach about this mine, because it looks like it has been deserted forever.  Then Jeff informed me that it closed down in the 80's.  "Oh," I think, "that's not very long ago, why do all the buildings look like a ghost town?"  Then I realized that the 80's was 30 years ago.!!!
Wow, It gave me something to think about for sure!

Jalepeno Poppers

Want a simple, tasty snack for camping?
I found this recipe and we love it.
This one is not Healthy!

Jalepeno Poppers Filling:

1 (8 oz ) cream cheese, softened
1 small jar of bacon bits (real ones taste best)
1 cup or so of sliced pickled jaleponos in a jar (Drain the juice)

Mix it all together and add a handful of grated cheddar  or  mozerella cheese.
The mixture is very flexible.  Add more bacon or less Jaleponos depends on you tastebuds!

Now for the outside, you can be very creative!

Jeff's favorite is pita pockets.
Rip one of them in half and smear as much filling in it to you are happy!
It doesn't have to be thick because the flavor is so strong.
These make a nice snack for camping or hunting.

My favorite is to make them in a Pie Iron, or Mountian Pie maker.
You could use thin bread, wraps, or a dough.
Just make sure you butter the bread on the outside.
Make them like grilled cheese sandwiches!  Yummy!

Jeff and I camping Labor Day weekend

Opening our Sonlight Box! I am so delighted how much they love
to read.  What a natural way to learn!  It is also so fun to curl up on the
couch with them and read.

We had a sleep out on the screen porch.  Every night Tia falls asleep
with about ten books all around her.  The boys started to follow her lead.

There is something about the new school year, new books, new clothes that brings freshness!

Isn't it refreshing to be able to start new? Such a gentle reminder of God and his grace and forgiveness. How He washes us white as snow! And how He gives us a new day every day to live for Him!

We had a really nice weekend to camp! We went to Blue Lake, the water was so pretty. The kids swam and had a blast in the water. Once Trevor disappeared for 5 minutes and we started to panic, noone had seen him. Jeff ran to the beach I ran down the roads, James and Mervin road around on bikes and still no Trevor. As I was franticially walking back through our neighbors campsite, I asked if they had seen him, they hadn't but as I walked past their open van doors I peeked inside and here was a happy little driver playing contently in a new van!!

Rachel and Mikes both had flat tires on their trips down.

Helen had fun getting a pincther bug out of her pants.

Derek had to work so he wasn't there.
